Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during the team's training camp practice on Saturday, the Eagles announced.

Maclin fell to the ground during 7-on-7 drills and lay there for several minutes as he "writhed in pain" before being carted off the field, according to CSNPhilly.com's Geoff Mosher.

The 25-year-old former first-round draft pick, entering his fifth season, is in the final year of his rookie contract. He has struggled with his health throughout his career, missing time during training camp in both 2010 and '11.

Maclin has topped 60 receptions and 850 yards receiving in each of the past three years, but has yet to top the 1,000-yard mark.

From the CSNPhilly.com report:

He writhed in pain as the staff worked on his lower leg, with head coach Chip Kelly kneeling over him and general manager Howie Roseman standing nearby. After he made it to his feet, Maclin appeared to be bearing weight only on his right leg before settling into the motorized cart.

Exact information on Maclin’s injury won’t be known until after practice. The Eagles are just two days into Kelly’s first training camp.

Maclin, who led the Eagles with 857 receiving yards last year and with seven touchdown catches, had his face covered with a towel as the cart escorted him off the field and toward the door that leads to the NovaCare Complex clubhouse.

Two trainers helped Maclin off the cart and then assisted the receiver in walking into the clubhouse as Maclin continued to avoid putting weight on the leg. Maclin had each arm wrapped around a staff member as he entered the complex.

The rest of the Eagles' receiving corps includes two-time Pro Bowler DeSean Jackson and eighth-year veteran Jason Avant, with Riley Cooper, Damaris Johnson and Arrelious Benn, among others, also competing for spots.
