The Memphis Grizzlies are "firmly in the mix" to sign veteran point guard Mo Williams. The Miami Heat and Utah Jazz have also expressed interest in Williams.

ESPN's Marc Stein reports that there's no real frontrunner to sign Williams.

Among the three potential teams for Williams, there are no point guard positions immediately open, unless Utah starts Williams in place of Trey Burke.

The Grizzlies have Jerryd Bayless and Mike Miller, but another point guard could help the team after making the fewest 3-pointers of any team in the league last season.

Williams made headlines earlier in July when he supposedly claimed he would not re-sign with the Jazz unless he was the starter, not Burke. Williams' agent, Mark Bartelstein, said that he and his client "would never" demand to be named the starter.
