The Detroit Tigers have attempted to shore up their relief corps by trading for the Houston Astros' Jose Veras, the team announced.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports first reported the deal via Twitter.

The Astros will receive 19-year-old outfielder Danry Vasquez and a player to be named later from the Tigers. Vasquez is currently playing for the Tigers' Low-A West Michigan affiliate.

Veras, 32, brings a 2.93 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 44 strikeouts and 14 walks in 43 innings for the Astros.

By acquiring Veras, the Tigers likely drop out of a list of potential buyers for veteran relievers that reportedly includes Jonathan Papelbon and Joe Nathan.
