One requirement of a quarterback on any level of football is to know how to throw.

Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor said yesterday that he is starting to get that concept down, and didn't know how throw the ball correctly until working with the Raiders coaching staff.

"I never really knew how to throw a football before," Pryor said Sunday, according to the Bay Area News Group. "It's coming along. I'm getting way better. I probably missed four or five throws out of 80, 85 throws today. I might ice my arm as a precaution tonight, but it feels great."

New addition Matt Flynn still remains the odds-on favorite to win the starting job this season. Pryor did see extended action at the end of last season, completing 13 of 28 passes for 150 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception in a 24-21 loss to the San Diego Chargers.

"He's worked extremely hard at it, and any time you get a talented player that works extremely hard, he's going to get better," Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said. "We're doing some things with him to try and take advantage of his talents. He's responding to that."
