Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt Flynn has maintained control over the team's starting spot through the first week of training camp, reports The Associated Press' Josh Dubow (via ProFootballTalk).

Flynn, acquired from the Seahawks this offseason, entered practice as the favorite to win the team's quarterback derby. He holds an advantage over Terrelle Pryor and rookie Tyler Wilson in the race to replace Carson Palmer, who was traded to the Cardinals.

But Flynn was in a similar position last offseason in Seattle and failed to hold the job. The Seahawks signed him to a three-year, $26 million contract in the offseason, making him their presumptive 2012 starter. Flynn had played well as the backup to Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, and he was expected to get a chance to prove he could be an NFL starter. Rookie Russell Wilson upset those plans, winning the quarterback competition during training camp before producing a great first season.

From Dubow's report:

"I took away a lot of things from Seattle last year," Flynn said Tuesday. "But the thing that I took away the most was that I want this even more now, even more this year. "I'm blessed to have another opportunity at this, and I'll try to take advantage of it and do as much as I can to not let it get away from me."
