Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. announced Thursday that his family will offer a $100,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to the capture of the individual who abducted his mother last summer, according to a report from the New York Daily News.

The former Baltimore Orioles star made the announcement Thursday morning at the Sports Legends Museum, located next to Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

The announcement comes nearly a year after Vi Ripken was abducted from her Hartford County, Md. home after she was held at gunpoint between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. by a man who held her captive for approximately 24 hours. According to reports, the man is believed to be a white male in his late-30s or early-40s "last seen wearing a light colored shirt, camouflage pants and eyeglasses." Vi was found at approximately 6 a.m. the following morning in her vehicle and was physically unharmed.

Aberdeen Police Chief Fred Budnick said the case has no new active leads but Ripken said he hopes the reward announced Thursday will help bring new information. According to the NYDN report, America’s Most Wanted TV host John Walsh said Thursday that he will feature the case on the show's website.
