Report: NFLPA, NFL want increased discipline for alcohol violations

The National Football League and the NFL Players Association are pushing for stiffer penalties for those individuals who are convicted of any alcohol-related driving offense, reports FOXSports.com.

According to the report, the league wants a mandatory suspension for players convicted of DUIs or other alcohol-related driving offenses and the NFLPA says that “players have been open to discussions and already discussed increasing discipline on DUIs."

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, 10 players have been arrested on alcohol-related driving charges so far this year and there were 17 players arrested for the same offenses in 2012.

A source told FOX Sports that the delay stems largely from the trickle-down effect the new HGH policy will have on other league programs, guidelines and the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
