Broncos' Champ Bailey has a left foot sprain, no ligament tears, MRI reveals

The day after he left Seattle's CenturyLink Field in a walking boot and on crutches, Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey received good news.

An MRI revealed that Bailey did not tear any ligaments on Saturday night, when he injured his left foot covering Seahawks receiver Golden Tate and left Denver's second preseason game in the second quarter.

The team called Bailey's injury a "left foot sprain."

"No timetable has been set for Bailey's return, though it is unlikely he would play again in the preseason," according to USA Today's Lindsay H. Jones.

The 35-year-old has missed just 12 games during his 14-year career.

The Broncos' secondary may get a boost, however, as free-agent addition Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is expected to return for the team's third preseason game on Saturday. Rodgers-Cromartie practiced in pads last week after being sidelined since July 31 with a high-ankle sprain.

In all, five Denver players suffered injuries during its 40-10 loss, including defensive end Derek Wolfe (spine), linebacker Stewart Bradley (wrist), guard Luis Vazquez (knee) and wide receiver Wes Welker (ankle).
