Star wide receiver Victor Cruz left the New York Giants' preseason contest against the Indianapolis Colts, in a scare that eventually was diagnosed as a bruised heel, according to the NFL Network's Kim Jones.

Cruz was injured on the Giants' first offensive position, and the team announced he had been taken to the locker room to have an X-ray on his foot. The Giants said his X-ray was negative and he has a bruised heel, a relief for the team and their fans.

Cruz came back from the locker room out of his uniform, and it was clear he wasn't going to return to action.

Cruz has led the Giants in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown receptions each of the past two seasons.
