The Arizona Cardinals anticipate that running back Rashard Mendenhall will be back for the team's season-opener, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported on Sunday. And in a further planned shakeup of their running back corps, they have placed back Ryan Williams on the trade block, according to the report.

Mendenhall injured his right knee in the Cardinals' preseason contest against the San Diego Chargers on Saturday, in what La Canfora reported is a minor sprain. He will most likely need to wear a brace during the start of the season, but he should be ready to play on Sept. 8 against the St. Louis Rams. He has also been battling tendonitis throughout the preseason.
