Texas Longhorns senior defensive tackle Ashton Dorsey has transferred from the program, head coach Mack Brown confirmed Tuesday morning.

Brown did not offer a statement in the press release, something he usually does for transfer announcements. The No. 15 Longhorns begin the season Saturday against New Mexico State.

Dorsey played in 30 career games at Texas, with six starts. He was expected to start at defensive tackle this season but his name did not appear along the two-deep, which was released Monday. Dorsey had 11 tackles for loss in 2012.

The Longhorns were 90th last year in rushing defense, giving up 191 yards on the ground per game.
