The Denver Broncos kept 11 defensive backs on their 53-man roster because Champ Bailey's status is still "iffy."

Bailey shed his walking boot Saturday, after mixed reports last week on whether or not he still needed it. The Broncos open Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens, giving Bailey just a few days to be ready to play.

Bailey sprained his left foot during an Aug. 18 preseason game. It was expected to take several weeks to heal and the Broncos have been noncommittal about announcing a timetable for his return.

Bailey's uncertain status is one of the reasons the Broncos kept CB Quentin Jammer. Omar Bolden went to safety last week, switching with Jammer. If Bailey is unable to play, the Broncos will start Chris Harris and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie at outside corner.
