The Saints avoided putting injured linebacker Jonathan Vilma on the physically unable to perform list in hopes of activating him when he's healthy. His return from arthroscopic knee surgery could be a few games into the season according to reports.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Vilma is "pretty doubtful" for the Saints' season-opener against the Falcons. FOX Sports Live reported Sunday night that Vilma probably will miss multiple games.
