DeAndre Hopkins passes concussion test, will play in Texans-Chargers opener

Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins passed a final concussion test Tuesday and the rookie will be eligible to play when the team kicks off its season on the road Monday against the San Diego Chargers.

According to a tweet from the Houston Chronicle's John McClain, Hopkins has completed all of the protocols required for him to resume playing after suffering a concussion in the preseason.

The Texans' first-round draft pick out of Clemson played well during his limited time on the field during the preseason. The 21-year-old suffered the injury during the second preseason game against the Miami Dolphins and has not been able to return to the field since.  He finished the preseason with 74 yards on six receptions and a touchdown over two games.
