Report: Terrelle Pryor to start for Raiders on Sunday
The Oakland Raiders will start Terrelle Pryor at quarterback on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, The San Francisco Chronicle's Vic Tafur reported Monday night. Pryor will start over Matt Flynn.
For the Raiders, the move isn't a big surprise. Pryor took snaps with the rest of the first team at practice Monday, according to Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune. Flynn, who missed practice last week with a sore elbow, was back on the field Monday.
Head coach Dennis Allen has not officially named a starter, however. On Monday, he cited "competitive" reasons for withholding his choice.
Allen said throughout the preseason and training camp that he would choose the quarterback who he thinks can best move the team down the field and score points. Despite a rough preseason finale, Pryor was always thought to be the preferred starter.Under Pryor, the Raiders' offense scored 32 points on 14 drives. That compared with just 10 points on 13 drives this preseason for Flynn. Flynn played mostly with and against starters, while Pryor was in mostly with second-team players.
