Report: Usain Bolt plans to retire after 2016 Olympics

The fastest sprinter in history expects the next Olympics to be his last.

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, a triple gold medalist at the 2008 and 2012 Games, plans to retire after the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, reports the Associated Press.

Bolt, 27, is the world record holder in the 100 and 200 meters. He is also a showman who brings attention to track and field with his dominance and his antics. The sport could suffer without its main attraction.

From the AP report:

"So far, (it) is after the Olympics in Rio," Bolt said of his retirement plans. "I think if I am in great shape, I'll go there and do what I have to do. I think it will be a good time to retire, on top."

..."If I want to be among the greats of (Muhammad) Ali and Pele and all these guys I have to continue dominating until I retire," Bolt said.

Bolt also said that he hopes to break his own record in the 200.
