Boston Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury has been diagnosed with a compression fracture in his right foot, MLB.com's Ian Browne reports. The Red Sox expect to Ellsbury to return from the injury and play.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said Ellsbury aggravated his right foot while attempting a steal a base in the 10th inning of the Red Sox game against the New York Yankees. Ellsbury fouled a ball off his foot last week against the Baltimore Orioles and Farrell says the injury has been nagging Ellsbury ever since.
