New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen will undergo surgery to repair a broken bone in his left wrist, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer. Vereen is expected to be out of action for a "few weeks," according to Glazer.
Vereen suffered the injury on his first play in the Patriots' 23-21 win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Vereen replaced starting running back Stevan Ridley after Ridley was benched for turning the ball over twice in the first half. Vereen was able to play through the injury but concern grew as Vereen said he was experiencing numbness in his wrist after the game. Vereen was the only running back in the NFL to amass over 100 yards rushing as he ran for 101 yards while hauling in seven passes for 58 yards.
