Report: DeLoss Dodds to step down as Texas athletic director

University of Texas Athletic Director DeLoss Dodds is expected to step down as AD, according to a report published by Orangebloods.com. The report claims Dodds will end his 32-year tenure as athletic director at the end of the year.

Despite the report, UT spokesperson Nick Voinis said the report published by the website is "absolutely not true." The University of Texas Media Relations department told KXAN reporter Chris Sadeghi that the reports of Dodds' departure are also untrue.

According to Organgebloods.com, Dodds will move into a "half-time" position where he will serve the athletic department in a significant way. Dodds will reportedly collect his full salary of $1.1 million which is set to expire in August, 2015. Dodds' reasoning for resigning is to make way for a new athletic director in January to make sweeping changes to the athletic department at Texas.

"There are likely big changes coming, and DeLoss knows it and doesn't want to stand in the way of progress," one source close to the situation told Orangebloods.com.
