The Cleveland Browns will start quarterback Brian Hoyer against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, the team announced on Twitter.
Starter Brandon Weeden sprained his thumb against the Ravens on Sunday and will miss this week's game. Weeden will be reevaluated before Week 4.
Veteran Jason Campbell was listed as Weeden's backup, but coach Rob Chudzinski chose to start Hoyer, a fifth-year pro out of Michigan State.
STAPLES: NFL Draft Big Board Hoyer spent the first three years of his career backing up Tom Brady in New England. Last season, he joined the quarterback mess in Arizona and completed 19 of 34 passes for 255 yards in his only career start.
