Suspended Detroit Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta will be reinstated by the team after his 50-game suspension ends on Friday, the team announced.

Peralta was one of 13 players suspended for his role in the Biogenesis scandal.

Peralta has been working in left field in instructional league games in Florida and could be put there for the foreseeable future.  Jose Iglesias has been the team's primary shortstop since Peralta has been out of the lineup.

LEMIRE: The Achilles' heels for each postseason contender Peralta was batting .305 with 11 home runs and 54 RBIs in 104 games at the time he was suspended. He accepted a 50-game ban without an appeal and is scheduled to be a free agent this winter.
