The Chicago Cubs have dismissed manager Dale Sveum

The Chicago Cubs have fired manager Dale Sveum, according to MLB.

The decision was made this morning, at a meeting between Sveum and members of the front office.

The Cubs had a .392 win percentage, with two last place finishes in the NL Central over Sveum's two-year stint as manager.  The team had entered into a rebuilding phase, but was likely unhappy with the progress of young players, such as Starlin Castro and Anthony Rizzo, under Sveum's tutelage.
