The New York Yankees have offered a new contract to manager Joe Girardi, according to the Associated Press.

Girardi and his agent have each met with Yankees' GM Brian Cashman this week about extending the skippers tenure with the team. Girardi's three year, $9 million contract with New York is set to expire at the end of this month, and his free agency has drawn interest from the Cubs and Nationals.

The specifics of the offer are not known, but on Tuesday Cashman told reporters "we're going to give him a real good reason to stay."
