Dwight Howard had 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds in his first outing as a member of the Houston Rockets, although his team did fall to the newly-renamed New Orleans Pelicans 116-115. The former Laker was also called for a technical in the third quarter after he argued a defensive three-second violation.
Howard went 6-for-11 from the field in his 27 minutes on the court. Teammate, James Harden led Houston with 21 points, and Omri Casspi chipped in an additional 20 off the bench.
Howard was the offseason's most coveted free agent after his short stint with Los Angeles. After a brief courting process with multiple teams, Howard received a handful of maximum contract offers before accepting a four-year, $88-million deal from Houston.
