The Dodgers plan to start right-hander Ricky Nolasco rather than ace left-hander Clayton Kershaw in Game 4 of the National League Division Series on Monday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Dodgers pitching coach Rick Honeycutt told the the Times that the team had considered using Kershaw on short rest only if they faced elimination on Monday. Los Angeles, however, took a two games-to-one lead with a 13-6 victory on Sunday.

Honeycutt said the team would not risk using Kershaw -- who has never pitched on short rest -- with a chance to bring him back in what could be a decisive Game 5 on Wednesday.

"He's our future," Honeycutt told the Times. "You don't want to mess around with it."
By keeping Kershaw in his normal rotation, the Dodgers could start him in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series if they beat the Braves on Monday.
