USC's search for a football coach has been mostly hush-hush since the firing of Lane Kiffin. Denver Broncos defensive coordinator and USC alum Jack Del Rio has been linked to the job, but he has said there's nothing to speak about on the subject.

Now comes news that USC had at least one other name in mind.

The Trojans reached out to a former Super Bowl-winning coach. NBC Sports analyst Tony Dungy said on the Dan Patrick Show that "representatives" of USC had gauged his interest in the job -- only to be told he wasn't interested.

Dungy pointed to his lack of college coaching experience and said again that his coaching days are over. He also said that USC reached him through an unusual source: his pastor.
