Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations John Paxson said Saturday that Derrick Rose will not need an MRI on his left knee. Rose will sit out Saturday's preseason game due to soreness, though.

Paxson said that there is nothing to worry about structurally, adding that the team is being "ultra conservative" because it is only the third game of the preseason.

This is the same knee in which Rose tore his ACL in the 2012 NBA playoffs, costing the point guard the entire 2012-2013 season. Sitting Rose is a precautionary measure, not evidence of significant problems in the future.

Rose played Oct. 7 in the Bulls' second preseason game against the Memphis Grizzlies, scoring 13 points with three assists, three steals and one 3-pointer in 23 minutes.
