The mother of sidelined Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski has responded to claims that her son is taking too long to return from his arm injury, according to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald.

Diane Gronkowski says that she knows that her son wishes he could be back on the field and is doing everything in his power to make that happen:

“All I can say is Robbie is dying to play. He wants to get out there,” Diane Gronkowski said. “He’s doing what he has to do to get back playing. He doesn’t like it. He wants to play. It really bothers him that he’s not playing.

...“When he comes back, he wants to be 100 percent and pick up where he left off,” she said. “Do people know what he’s been doing, what he’s been eating? He’s just been so disciplined since his surgery. He’s eating healthy foods, organic foods. If he didn’t want to play again, why would he be doing all that?”

Mrs. Gronkowski also said that those who criticize her son's recovery time don't know what its like to be in his shoes:

“When they go through four arm surgeries, a back surgery, and a foot surgery in a year and a half, then they can make the comments."
Rob Gronkowski injured his arm in the Patriots playoff win over the Houston Texans in January and has yet to return to game action, although he has been able to practice for the last few weeks.
