Notre Dame junior defensive end Stephon Tuitt announced Wednesday that he plans on returning for his senior season, reports the Observer, Notre Dame's student newspaper.

Tuitt, listed at 6-foot-6 and 322 pounds, has recorded 18 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and three sacks for the Fighting Irish (4-2) this season.  He also has seven quarterback hurries and one forced fumble.

"I’m coming back next year," Tuitt said. "I’m a junior. I still have one year."

He had a huge 2012 season, helping the Irish reach the National Championship game.  He had 47 tackles and 12 sacks a year ago.
