Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes is out again with a foot injury, a setback that will keep him sidelined when the team plays a preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday in Shanghai.

According to a report Thursday from Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com, there is no timetable for Barnes' return, news that could spell the designation of a bench role in the regular season for the 21-year-old, who was a starter last season as a rookie.

Head coach Mark Jackson has to figure out whether the recently acquired Andre Igoudala or Barnes will start at the 3-spot this season, and Barnes' injury to his left foot could mean Jackson moves forward with slotting in Igoudala at small forward.

Jackson said his injury plays a factor in who to start, but the way he envisioned using Igoudala when the Warriors acquired him in the offseason hasn't changed:

"Unfortunately [the injury] has got to play a factor because you didn’t really get to see those units together, no matter who it is. The good thing is, I know all of these guys. I envisioned when we got Andre how I would utilize all of them and that hasn’t changed."

Igoudala, a 2012 All-Star, agreed to a four-year, $48 million deal with the Warriors this summer after completing a sign-and-trade with his former Denver Nuggets team. Barnes averaged 9.2. points and 4.1 rebounds in 25 minutes per game, appearing in all but one of Golden State's games last season.

The Warriors tip off their regular season on Oct. 30 at home against the Lakers.
