Rafael Nadal, the top-ranked tennis player in the world, won't play in next week's Swiss Indoors event due to fatigue, he announced on his Facebook page.

"Hi all, sorry to announce that I won't travel to Basel in Switzerland but after very exhausting weeks I have to regroup my fitness and my body."

Nadal has played 74 matches since returning from a knee injury in February, and he is 69-5 with 13 finals appearances in 14 tournaments, including wins at the French and U.S. Open.

His next tournament is scheduled to be the Paris Masters beginning Oct. 28 before the ATP World Tour Finals in London on Nov. 4.

Since winning the U.S. Open last month, Nadal has played in two tournaments — he lost to Novak Djokavic in the final of the China Open two weeks ago and to Juan Martin del Potro in the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters last week.
