Vikings DE Jared Allen: State of Minnesota might revolt if Adrian Peterson is traded

On Thursday, Tom Powers of the St. Paul Pioneer Press wrote a column saying that the Minnesota Vikings should trade away running back Adrian Peterson so they can get future draft picks because the team is not going to win anytime soon.

Vikings defensive end Jared Allen doesn't think that's a very good idea and said the entire state of Minnesota would be upset if they traded the five-time Pro Bowler.

Peterson has rushed for 483 yards and five touchdowns this season.

"I don't think that would be a very smart move, to say the least," Allen said, according to NFL.com. "I'm glad I'm not the GM having to make decisions, but I think if Adrian wasn't a Viking, I think maybe this state might revolt. Adrian's a phenomenal player, and you understand people write stuff like that. If I was a betting man, I'd put my money that Adrian isn't going anywhere."

The Vikings (1-4) are set to start newly-acquired quarterback Josh Freeman in Monday's contest against the New York Giants (0-6).
