Jim Leyland announced Monday that he is stepping down as Tigers manager. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal first reported that Leyland planned to retire.

Leyland, 68, reportedly told his players it was time for someone younger to step in and do the job at the end of the ALCS. The Tigers were eliminated by the Red Sox in Game 6 Saturday.
