The injury status of Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel promised to be one of the week's hottest college football topics. It didn't take long for an answer: Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports reports Manziel's arm is out of a sling and he will play against Vanderbilt on Saturday.

On Tuesday afternoon, coach Kevin Sumlin categorized Manziel as “hopeful” for Saturday's SEC game at Kyle Field.

Manziel sat out a series early in the fourth quarter in the Aggies' 45-41 loss to Auburn on Saturday with what appeared to be an injury to his right shoulder. He was hurt while being slammed to the ground on a scramble. Upon his return, he was seen grimacing while attempting to raise his arm, but finished the SEC contest having completed 28 of 38 attempts for 454 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.

On Tuesday, wide receiver Mike Evans said Manziel's arm was in a sling at practice, while Travis Labhart said he wore the sling primarily to keep him from throwing passes -- because he is such a competitor. Labhart also said Manziel was throwing passes to receivers during drills with his left hand.
