Amar'e Stoudemire to play in Knicks' opener vs. Bucks on Wednesday

New York Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire, who has played just 76 games over the past two seasons because of various injuries, will be ready to go Wednesday when the team tips off its regular season at home against the Milwaukee Bucks.

According to tweets from Ian Begley of ESPN, Mike Woodson confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the 30-year-old Stoudemire will suit up for the home opener on Oct. 30. Stoudemire's status was long believed to be up in the air as he continues to recover from multiple knee surgeries, most recently one that he underwent during the offseason.

The news gives the Knicks more depth in the front court, but Stoudemire will be limited to approximately 20 minutes per game and will likely split back-to-back games throughout this season with fellow veteran forward Kenyon Martin.

On Wednesday, Woodson said on ESPN Radio that he will probably start off Stoudemire and Martin by playing each of them 15 minutes per game and hopefully increasing their minutes as the season progresses.
