Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith took to Twitter on Thursday to deny a report that he would interview for the athletic director's job at the University of Texas.

Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman reported on Thursday that a highly-placed source at a Big 12 school said that the UT search committee would interview Smith, along with West Virginia AD Oliver Luck and Arizona State AD Steve Patterson. Texas has begun its search for a replacement for AD DeLoss Dodds, who announced that he would retire in 2014.

Smith also issued a statement through Ohio State on Thursday afternoon.

From the Cleveland Plain-Dealer:

“I have the greatest respect for the University of Texas and one of my mentors, DeLoss Dodds. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to be the athletics director at The Ohio State University. Reports of me interviewing at the University of Texas are inaccurate," Smith said.
