The A's have signed Dodgers utility player Nick Punto to a one-year, $3 million deal, as first reported by Yahoo Sports.

Yahoo Sports also reports Punto could earn as much as $2.75 million more with a vesting option.

The A's confirmed the signing via Twitter, but have not released the financials.

Punto, 36, is a 13-year veteran who has played every position except pitcher and catcher in his career. He joins an A's roster already packed with versatile players including Alberto Callaspo, Jed Lowrie and Eric Sogard. The Cardinals' Daniel Descalso and Punto were the majors' only two players with 30-plus games at second base, shortstop and third base last season. Yahoo's Ultimate Free-Agent Tracker ranks Punto fifth among utility players and 89th overall.

Punto hit .255/.328/.327 with two home runs and 21 RBI in 116 games with the Dodgers last season after being traded from the Red Sox in the teams' nine-player blockbuster on Aug. 25, 2012.
