Former Texans safety Ed Reed said during a call with the media Wednesday that defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is "probably the reason I'm not there," according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltmore Sun.

Reed, who signed with the Jets after his release by Houston earlier this month, told reporters Wednesday that he felt the Texans' personnel did not fit their game plan: "That defense is not a good fit for a lot of people, not just me. The truth is the truth."

Reed added, "You (have) got to look at the playcalling and put your players in position to make plays."

Reed will play against the Ravens, his long-time team, in Baltimore this weekend. The nine-time Pro-Bowler said he hopes his former hometown fans will give him a "warm welcome."
