Catcher Carlos Ruiz and the Philadelphia Phillies finalized a three-year, $26 million deal on Thursday, according to The Associated Press.
The deal, which was originally announced Monday, includes a $4.5 million club option or a $500,000 buyout for 2017.
Ruiz, who made the National League All-Star team in 2012, batted .268 with five home runs and 37 RBIs in 92 games last season. He also finished with just a .688 OPS. Overall, it was his worst season at the plate since 2008. He was suspended for 25 games after testing positive for amphetamines.
Ruiz will be 35 at the start of next season. The deal keeps him with the Phillies, the only team for which he's ever played.
