Report: Chiefs' Justin Houston has dislocated elbow, Tamba Hali dealing with ankle sprain

The Kansas City Chiefs' defense is dealing with injuries to a couple key contributors.

Linebacker Justin Houston has a dislocated elbow, and linebacker Tamba Hali has a slight ankle injury, according to Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star.

It is not known if either player will be available for the AFC West showdown against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Both were injured in the first half of the Chiefs' 41-38 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. Neither one returned to the game.

Houston, who has 11 sacks this season, was scheduled to have an MRI on his elbow, but it was too swollen, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Monday.

"After the game they were trying to keep the swelling down, but you could see after the game it was puffing up a little bit and then overnight it was swollen even more,'' Reid said.

Hali has nine sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery this season.

"He made big improvements from yesterday but we'll have to see how he does,'' Reid said about Hali. "He came in [Monday] with one crutch, so we're halfway there.''
