Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon said Wednesday that he supports head football coach Brady Hoke and that Hoke will lead the program "well into the future" despite a disappointing season.

Brandon wrote on his blog to hopefully quiet any rumors about Hoke's future with the program. In Hoke's first season, the team won the Sugar Bowl, but the team has not won the conference title in nine seasons and has a 7-4 record going into this weekend's showdown with Ohio State.  Hoke has three years left on a six-year deal he signed in 2011.

"Brady Hoke is our coach and will be leading our football program well into the future. There is no question about it. Brady has done a great job rebuilding the program and reshaping the culture to the level it was under coaches Bo Schembechler, Gary Moeller and Lloyd Carr," Brandon wrote. "Anyone making efforts to stir up a coaching controversy at Michigan is ill-informed and is likely promoting a personal agenda that is not in the best interest of Michigan Football."

Brandon said that he hopes that the fan base will be patient and that he feels that the program will continue to build a winner.

"I have seen firsthand what Brady and his coaching staff are doing to make this program better. It takes time and sometimes patience by all of us before we can build the consistent winner that meets our expectations. I can assure you that our student-athletes are working hard every day to get better on the field, in the classroom and in the community."
