New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson met Sunday with free-agent outfielder Curtis Granderson, Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported Monday.

The Mets want to add power in the outfield this offseason, and Granderson will likely be a lower-cost option than Jacoby Ellsbury, Shin-Soo Choo, and Carlos Beltran. The Mets first acknowledged preliminary interest in Granderson early last month.

Granderson has spent the last four seasons with the cross-town Yankees. He only played in 61 games last season, hampered by two separate injuries he suffered on two hit pitches. Granderson finished last season batting .229 with seven homers and 15 RBI, along with a .724 OPS. In 2011 and 2012, he hit a combined 84 homers.

Last week, the Mets made their first attempt at improving their outfield, agreeing to a one-year deal with Chris Young.
