Report: LSU QB Zach Mettenberger has torn ACL, out for bowl game
LSU senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will not play in the team's bowl game, reports ESPN's Adam Caplan.
Mettenberger was injured in the fourth quarter of the Tigers' 31-27 victory over Arkansas Saturday. He was helped off the field and was seen on crutches for the remainder of the game.
Mettenberger's injured knee is the same one he wore a brace on the past last two seasons. LSU coach Les Miles said after the game that he thought Mettenberger would be available for the bowl game.
He completed 65 percent of his passes this season for 3,082 yards with 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions for the Tigers. He is just the third quarterback in LSU history to surpass 3,000 passing yards in one season.
