Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel told Pioneer Press reporter Chris Tomasson that he will definitely start Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.
Earlier in the week, Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said that if quarterback Christian Ponder was not cleared to play due to a concussion, Cassel would start.
Cassel just led the 3-8-1 Vikings to a 23-20 overtime victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 13, completing 20-of-33 passes for 243 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He played the second half and overtime after Christian Ponder exited with a second-quarter concussion.
Before the Week 13 victory, Cassel saw some action in Week 11, when he replaced a benched Ponder in the fourth quarter against the Seahawks. He completed just 5-of-13 passes for 78 yards, one touchdown, and an interception in Minnesota's 41-20 loss.
