Report: Boise State's Chris Petersen to be named Washington head coach

Boise State football coach Chris Petersen will be named Washington's head coach on Friday, ESPN's Joe Schad reports.

Petersen had been linked to the opening at Washington since Steve Sarkisian left the Huskies for USC. ESPN's Brett McMurphy had previously reported Petersen would interview with the school.

Petersen is 92-12 at Boise State since becoming the Broncos' head coach in 2006. In 2009, he was a candidate for the Washington job before Sarkisian's hire and was considered a candidate for recent openings at USC and UCLA.

Schad reports that Petersen will be one of the highest paid coaches in the Pac-12.
