Knicks' Carmelo Anthony denies he's already decided to leave team

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony denied an ESPN report that said he has already made up his mind to test the waters when he becomes a free agent after this season.

Anthony had previously said that he wanted to stay in New York but wanted to see what being a free agent is like. Even though he is playing a career-high 40.4 minutes and averaging 26.3 points and almost 10 rebounds a game, the Knicks have gotten off to a 3-13 start this season.

“I’m not thinking about that," Anthony said to Newsday's Al Iannazzone. "I’ll be selfish to think about that at this point, with us losing and going through the situation that we are going through. It’d be selfish on my part to my teammates and to the organization to even have that thought come across my mind."

Anthony, who called the Knicks the league's "laughingstock," says he doesn't know where the reports are coming from because he doesn't talk to anyone about his future with the team. 

“If it’s not coming from me, if it’s not coming from people I talk to on a daily basis -- which I don’t talk to anybody about that, anybody in my crew, anybody on my team, family, nobody -- then it’s just not true."
