The Rockets' desire to trade Omer Asik has intensified and the team has dialed up its efforts to deal the disgruntled center, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Asik, 27, reportedly requested a trade in November after losing his starting job to free-agent signing Dwight Howard.

A rival NBA general manager reportedly labeled the Rockets' demands for Asik "delusional" weeks ago.

Asik averaged 10.1 points and 11.7 rebounds in 82 games as the Rockets' starting center last season.

Houston coach Kevin McHale attempted to utilize both of his best big men, starting Howard and Asik together to open the season, but Asik eventually was relegated to backup status after a 5-4 start.
