Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said Friday.

Rodgers has not played since breaking his left collarbone in a loss to the Chicago Bears on Nov. 4.

Rodgers had hoped to be cleared for action, but tests earlier this week showed that his broken collarbone was not healing sufficiently for doctors to allow him to play.

He did wear pads during limited practice time this week as backup Matt Flynn took the majority of reps in practice.

The Packers are 5-6-1 and have not won a game since Rodgers went down with his injury.  The team's playoff chances are dwindling and they currently third in the NFC North.
