Magglio Ordonez elected mayor of Venezuelan town

Retired All-Star Magglio Ordonez has been elected mayor of the town of Sotillo in his native Venezuela, according to the Associated Press.
Ordonez is a supporter of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, and his election was announced by the president at a rally celebrating the party's various electoral victories.
Sotillo is a coastal town in the southern portion of the South American country with over 27,000 inhabitants.
