Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson said he wasn't surprised when he heard about the comments from Baltimore Ravens safety Matt Elam, who called Johnson "pretty old."

Elam, a 22-year old rookie, was otherwise complimentary of Johnson, calling him “big, fast, athletic, unstoppable” and a “freak."

The Ravens play the Lions on Monday night, as both teams try to keep their playoff hopes alive.

"I'm getting old," Johnson said during a conference call Thursday. "It's all good. I'll show him what that old man's strength about, though."

Johnson, 28, said the Ravens' safeties are "nothing extraordinary." Johnson has 75 receptions for 1,351 yards and 12 touchdowns this season.

"It doesn't surprise me because he don't have to see me on the field," Johnson said. "So, he can talk all he wants. He plays back and I don't see him every play unless I run past him. I'm not worried about it. Those are definitely guys we can make plays on."
